Welcome to Run4Better ("we", "us" or "the App"). We understand how important your personal information is to you and will do our utmost to keep it secure. We are committed to earning your trust and adhere to the following principles when protecting your personal information: accountability, purpose limitation, informed consent, data minimisation, security, individual participation, and openness and transparency.

2. Information We Collect

When you use our services, we may collect the following information:

  • Account information: when you register an account, we collect your mobile phone number, WeChat OpenID and similar identifiers
  • Activity data: running distance, duration, pace, heart rate, cadence and other exercise-related data
  • Device information: device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, etc.
  • Third-party platform data: when you authorise a connection to a third-party platform such as Garmin, COROS, Suunto, Zepp or Keep, we sync your activity records (including raw activity files with GPS tracks, heart rate, cadence, etc.) and, where the platform makes it available, health data such as sleep, resting heart rate and HRV through the platform's official API
  • AI analysis data: when you use the AI Coach feature, we send your activity data (such as distance, pace and heart rate) to a third-party large language model service (DeepSeek) for analysis in order to generate personalised training advice

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain and improve our services
  • To process and complete your activity data sync requests
  • To generate activity analysis reports and achievement records
  • To send you service-related notifications
  • To analyse your activity data with AI models and provide personalised training advice and running guidance
  • To detect, prevent and resolve technical issues

4. AI Services and Third-Party Data Processing

  • The App's AI Coach feature is powered by a third-party large language model service (DeepSeek). When you use this feature, your activity data is sent to DeepSeek's servers for processing
  • We only send the activity data necessary for the analysis (such as distance, pace, heart rate and cadence) to the AI service; we do not send identity information such as your phone number or WeChat ID
  • The third-party AI provider's processing of your data is governed by its own privacy policy, and we require it to comply with applicable data protection laws
  • You may choose not to use the AI Coach feature at any time; this does not affect the other features of the App

5. Third-Party Platform Connections

  • Data synced from third-party platforms is used only within the App to display your activity records, analyse your training, calculate achievements and generate AI Coach advice. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising
  • You can disconnect a third-party platform at any time in the App's "Data Sources" settings. Once disconnected, we immediately stop syncing new data. You may also delete previously synced activities, or delete your account to remove all of your data
  • Data synced from third-party platforms is retained for as long as your account exists. After you delete your account, we delete or anonymise this data within a reasonable period, unless a longer retention period is required by law
  • Your relationship with the third-party platform is governed by that platform's own privacy policy (for example, the Garmin Privacy Policy)

6. Information Sharing

We do not share your personal information with third parties, except:

  • With your explicit consent
  • Where required by laws and regulations or lawfully requested by government authorities
  • Where necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Run4Better, our users or the public

7. Information Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, use or disclosure. These measures include, but are not limited to, data encryption, access controls and security audits.

8. Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Delete your personal information
  • Withdraw your consent
  • Delete your account

9. Protection of Minors

Our services are intended primarily for adults. If you are under 18 years of age, please read this policy together with your parent or guardian and use our services only with their consent.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated policy will be published on this page and, where appropriate, we will notify you before it takes effect. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
